WHO ARE WE?
The Journey of Christian Women is a group of ladies who come together each month from all walks of life, all ages and religious backgrounds, to Celebrate Life! We can’t wait each month to meet new friends and see old familiar faces. Ages range from young ladies to Grandmoms.
Journey President, Jeri Phillips, has had a vision since the startup of this club, Fall of 2013, to meet the needs of women wherever they are in their walk of life, but most of all, to encourage them in their Spiritual journey. She does believe that God is our source, and He will help us meet the challenges in our lives. Our lives will become something beautiful as we lean on Him.
Journey will soon have acquired their Non-Profit-Organization status which will open the door for multiple fundraisers through the many avenues available here in our City. We look forward with much anticipation for what lies ahead.

OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS
The lovely setting of the Quail Creek Country Club Main Ballroom adds to the festive atmosphere each month. Our delicious luncheon meal is served by their professional staff, it includes:
Salad, Entrée, Dessert, Coffee & Tea. The yummy food is second to none in OKC.
Following our festivities of lunch and preliminaries, our Speakers each month never fail to give us the most amazing dose of encouragement as they pour out their heart to our hearts. One recent speaker, Ruth Simpson, recounted her childhood of surviving World War II in Poland; the unbelievable courage of her Mother, who by God’s protection, and her sheer will and determination, escaped with her four young daughters. One of those daughters (now in her 70’s) had us sitting on the edge of our seat as she recounted her life as a little girl and then went on to give us glimpses of the rest of her incredible life to this current day. Each one of us left inspired and uplifted, knowing without a doubt that God protects us in our darkest hour.

WHAT DO WE DO?
Our Focus beyond our monthly luncheon and inspirational speakers, is to reach out to those in our Community through a variety of ways. Each November we have our Annual Bake Sale Fundraiser. Our ladies not only bake the most incredibly delicious desserts, they also wrap and present them beautifully, many of them bring several delectable desserts—not just one—we price them for sale; after the Speaker of the Day is finished, there is a mad dash for all of those great desserts to buy and take home! It is such a fun and crazy day! Just in time for Thanksgiving. But, more importantly, our emphasis on the Funds raised through the Bake Sale is on giving to those in our City who are in need. We invite you to be a part of this at our upcoming November 10 luncheon.
The first year Hope Pregnancy Center was our benefactor. The Rev. Dr. Tom Jones, President and Director of the Oklahoma City Rescue Mission, spoke to us two years ago and told us not only of the amazing work that this Mission is accomplishing in changing lives, but the story of his own personal life and how the hand of God literally has guided him from the time he was a very young man. The City Rescue Mission was the recipient for two years running.
At this November 10th luncheon, our focus will be in giving to one of our own ladies whose husband recently lost his job due to a company conflict, as well as being diagnosed with cancer the same week. He is now unemployed and they are struggling to make the Cobra Insurance payments each month to be assured of medical care for an undetermined amount of time.
At our December 8th Christmas luncheon this year, the ladies are invited to bring toiletries, laundry soap, and items to assist in setting up a household for six abused women and their young children. These ladies have been taken in by the Heart and Hand Ministries here in Oklahoma City.
Heart and Hand Ministries has an important mission and we do as much as possible to support them in meeting the many needs of these women who are struggling in multiple ways.
For fun, we have at least one delightful Fashion Show each year with our own ladies serving as
models for this event. Last year we had a Christmas Boutique with eight local vendors represented. It was a rewarding effort, but we have decided to spotlight Christmas in a different way this year.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO VOLUNTEER?
We have several areas where volunteers are needed. If you have the Gift of Conversation, please consider signing up to be a Table Hostess. Hosting a table is a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet new ladies and those returning friends each month. We have a Head Hostess who will give you specific instruction if you are to do something other than be friendly and include everyone in conversation.
We also need back-ups for our monthly Callers. We call many of our ladies to get their Reservation for each luncheon, but occasionally the Caller will be out of town, or otherwise obligated, and we need a substitute. Again, do you have the Gift of Gab? We will tell you all the important things you are to say—you do the rest—just give them a hug over the phone!

THE END!

This a community based women's group. We want to be a base for all women to reach out and connect with one another.
